TFS#114: Boost Your Sweeps and Pass with 1 Study

Knowing these details will *actually* help you sweep and pass more effectively...

The best way to fight burnout is to focus solely on your craft.

Too much focus on competition will distract you from what truly brings you lasting satisfaction.

TECHNIQUE OF THE WEEK

Passing SLX

The surge in popularity of Single Leg X has emerged due to the emergence of Leg Lock threats.

A few details when you’re in the top position:

  1. Address the foot by changing your angle
Don’t smash into the guard, it’ll give your opponent more leverage to bridge and sweep you. You need to pivot and drop your knee onto their belly. This also naturally will make peeling the foot off your hip much easier.

  2. Pivot
Take tiny back steps with your far foot. Your body should be perpendicular to their body.

  3. Lift your hips up to make room for your knee to split their legs
The reason for this is to put yourself into the Leg Weave position.

SLX Avoid Getting Smashed

Single Leg X isn’t a position you want to stay in too long.

Once you get there, you’ll want to work quickly.

When they start to put their weight on you (like in steps 1 or 2 from above), you need to rock to the side of your hips to create space again.

JIU-JITSU LONGEVITY

Feeling Gassy? (It’s Not Why You Think)

We’ve been told our whole lives to eat fruits, vegetables, and whole grains to stay in good health.

However, according to Dr. Steven Gundry — a world-renowned surgeon — many so called “health foods” in the American diet contain a toxin, that could be expanding your waistline.

Some times doctors don’t give us a straight answer. At the end of the day, it’s our job to be our best doctor.

Listen to your body and be patient.
