Half Guard Will Save You As You Age

If you don’t like playing Half Guard now, you will some day.

And you’ll be glad you started studying Half Guard today.

Don’t just think about escaping when you’re in Half Guard, it’s a great way to reverse the position using minimal effort with the help of our friend, leverage.

Remember, you have to defend against the cross face.

The person on top is trying to twist your spine by getting your hips pointed one way while forcing your head to turn the other.

I like to frame a the crook of their elbow.

Also, the more you curl yourself up in Half Guard, the harder it is for your opponent to pass.
