No one likes getting injured.

But if you do, use your time resting wisely.

If you never had the chance to watch film or journal, it’s the perfect time to do it.

Show up to class and take notes.

Support your teammates by filming their rolls and discussing it with them.

Don’t just train Jiu-Jitsu, study it.

TECHNIQUE OF THE WEEK

Keeping your guard

Getting Leg Dragged sucks. It really puts your hips and body out of position to retain your guard.

But you still have a few options.

🔑 Key detail: frame against the arm. Do not allow the cross face. Even if they get around your guard, they can’t fully pass if you continue to frame on their arm.

CLOSING THOUGHT

The Most Important Time In BJJ

Most will agree that Blue Belt is the most difficult belt level in Jiu-Jitsu.

But it’s also the time when you have the opportunity to develop lasting habits.

Most will spend their time as a Purple or Brown Belt unlearning their bad habits.

I’d say don’t get lazy during this time. Don’t let arrogance rob you of a better experience down the road.

See you on the mats,

Wayne
