TECHNIQUE OF THE WEEK
Last Week’s Recap
Last week in my Closing Thoughts, I talked about the advantages of staying one step ahead for Jiu-Jitsu.
One great example is the Leg Drag position, so let’s take a look at that.
Leg Drag Keeps You
Before we get into the technique, let me briefly explain why Leg Drag puts you ahead.
When we break down guard passing, it’s always explained in “layers” of the guard—first we pass the feet, then we pass knees, and then we pass the hips.
The Leg Drag position isn’t really a pass, but it does put you in an awesome position to pass and attack other options.
The reason for this is because in this position, you’ve already gotten around your opponent’s legs. They can no longer stop you with their feet or knees.
Now whatever the next move you make, your opponent has to make a defensive move before they can even make an offensive move. All the while you’re advancing your offense.
They’re playing catch up at this point.
JIU-JITSU LONGEVITY
Be Honest, You Have Weak Hips
If you sit a lot throughout the day, you’ll want to make sure you activate your hips before starting class.
Having tight hips will increase the chances to lower back, hamstring, and of course hip injuries just to name a few.
Don’t forget, warming up actually helps your mind focus and mentally prepare for class.
With that said, here are 5 hip mobility drills to use during warm ups.

These cannabis gummies keep selling out in 2023
If you've ever struggled to enjoy cannabis due to the harshness of smoking or vaping, you're not alone. That’s why these new cannabis gummies caught our eye.
Mood is an online dispensary that has invented a “joint within a gummy” that’s extremely potent yet federally-legal. Their gummies are formulated to tap into the human body’s endocannabinoid system.
Although this system was discovered in the 1990’s, farmers and scientists at Mood were among the first to figure out how to tap into it with cannabis gummies. Just 1 of their rapid onset THC gummies can get you feeling right within 5 minutes!

CLOSING THOUGHT
What Are You Supposed To Think?
Someone reached out and asked about what upper belts are thinking when they roll.
For those who are lower belts, understand this the reason why you’re thinking (or overthinking) in positions is because you still don’t have all the basic understanding of “how to move” yet.
I’d recommend focus on studying positions and figure out your priorities in those spots.
The techniques will teach you how to move.
