Now let’s jump back in to Jiu Jitsu!

You don’t actually need to know every guard…

If you needed the bare minimum, you only need two:

  1. Half Guard

  2. Butterfly Guard

  3. Closed Guard

Okay, I know I said two and then listed three but that’s because if you think about it, Closed Guard is like Butterfly except you have the ability to extend your opponent with Butterfly.

As of right now, let’s jump into the Butterfly Guard.

🔑 Key detail: When you’re sweeping with the Butterfly hook, you don’t need to kick out your leg. In fact, you want to keep that hook as clos to your body as possible. By kicking out, you’re opening up your leg and you can lose the control of your opponent’s hip.

Open up the new year by opening up your hips.

Be good to your body (including your knees and your lower back).

Here’s a hip opener.

The dreaded plateau and…

You probably don’t need it now because you’re coming off a restful holiday break.

(I know I am!)
