Technique Of The Week: Over Under Pass
What I like about the Over Under Pass is that you don’t need to make grips, save your fingers!
The Basics
Learning this pass will expand your game since the position can be established from multiple entries.
The easiest way to enter is from the open guard where you pin their legs to their glutes and drop my hips over a leg.
You’re controlling their legs while also slowly trapping their hips, making it hard for them to escape.
The key to this pass is maintaining hip control and their knee positioning.
🔑 Key detail: When tripodding up, make sure your head is on the “Under” side, keep your head low and look away from your opponent. (Image above)
🔑 Key detail: Make sure their knee is pointing up when you’ve walked towards the middle, this makes stepping over their leg easy.
Once outside the legs, you can complete your pass.
Leg Weave Into Mount

There’s nothing wrong with posting about Jiu-Jitsu.
But just like talking about BJJ at a family dinner or a friend’s party, when you post on social media, some people might not care.
Because it’s not relatable to them.
The only people who care are people who also train Jiu-Jitsu…and even they may not care.
That’s because they see the same stuff all over social media!
Flashy highlights, memes, “hot takes.”
I’m not bashing on influencers.
But if you decide to go that route, just be clear with your intentions and manage your expectations.
Don’t follow the trends or you’ll just become part of the sea of bland content out there.
If you can use social media to help other’s improve their Jiu-Jitsu, people will drift towards you.
That’s because people care about improving their Jiu-Jitsu.
