TECHNIQUE OF THE WEEK

Leg Drag

Last week we went over the a strong passing position.

Today, we’ll go over another great option, the Leg Drag.

The important part here is forcing the hip to face away from you.

When your opponent is able to face their hips towards you again, their mobility becomes stronger.

(Aka they’re in a better position to escape and guard.)

With this particular option, you get the opportunity for the Leg Weave as well.

Fixing Your Back Pain and Sciatica

  1. Don’t get stacked.

  2. Don’t hang out in the stacked position.

  3. Don’t fall in love with the berimbolo.

  4. Do these stretches.

CLOSING THOUGHT'

Pinning Hips

I took a survey on my X account this week with a simple question:

Do you prefer the Leg Weave or Leg Drag position?

About 60% of the voters chose Leg Drag.

I love the Leg Drag and enter the position more often.

However, I will say the Leg Weave is a better position.

That’s because the pinning of the hips is more secure. You have one leg pinned which makes your opponent’s ability to square up with you again very weak.

It’s easier to take Mount from that position. Which is more important in a street situation or an MMA fight.

Try your rounds in those two position and feel them for yourself and let me know what you think.

See you on the mats,

Wayne
